Our Spring Production will be the premiere of the latest play written by Ron Perry, adapted from the Fairarce series of books by Miss Read, the action focuses on the Primary School in the village of Fairarce, and Miss Read, the Headmistress. Set in the mid-1950’s, this nostalgic drama looks at life in a small village not unlike Redlynch itself! Dealing with the daily complaints of the school cleaner and village gossip Mrs Pringle, the steadying hand of caretake Mr Willet, and the failing health of teaching colleague Miss Clare, Miss Read steers a calming course at the school – the heart of the village. With some colourful characters, lively school children and the overhanging threat of school closure, the themes contained are still ones we face today. Be prepared for an evening of both comedy and pathos as we become spectators to a snapshot of the school year. I am sure you are going to love it as much as us!
Once again, we are collaborating with our friends the Fordingbridge Players who are equally excited as us to perform this new play. We are very grateful for their support during this production. Performances take place in Redlynch Village Hall, 7.30pm, during the week beginning the 19th May.
