As this Spring progresses I am even more grateful for our tranquil corner of the world. The subject of our play, Flora Thompson, was well known for her love of the countryside and her descriptive writing of British flora and fauna is far more evocative than anything I could conjure up! However I am sure Flora would agree that our little piece of England is indeed a beautiful place. Retelling her life story in Ron Perry’s play, Lark on the Wing, the cast have got to know Flora beyond her Candleford days and learnt more of her later life and some intriguing events that took place in it.
Rehearsals are coming along fantastically with our friends from Fordingbridge Players and the team are loving our time together. We are now getting closer to performing together again and things are getting exciting!
Lark on the Wing takes us from Flora Thompson’s. childhood in Oxfordshire through to her (lesser known) later life and the many obstacles she faced to get her work published. Ron Perry is directing us and this brand-new play will debut in May. Lark on the Wing will be performed in Redlynch Village Hall from the 25th to 28th May 2022. Check What’s On for more information.
This is a significant week as we will then commemorate 75 years since Flora Thompson died and 65 years since Redlynch Players was formed. Important milestones for both!
